A memorial within a mural celebrates the lives of Pro Football Hall of Famer and philanthropist Franco Harris and rapper and producer Mac Miller.

Kyle Holbrook has added both Pittsburgh icons to his artwork at Monroeville Mall. It comes at a time of the anniversary of Miller’s death and the Steelers beginning their 2023 season.

“One of my favorite songs from him is ‘Best Day Ever’ because if you’re feeling bad, put that song on and it will give you good energy,” Holbrook said about Miller.

Sherry Jo Matt, of Stop The Judgment Project, explained why the mural touches her heart.

“We lost our daughter to a fentanyl overdose, and one of her favorite musicians was Mac Miller. It’s three years on Sept. 14 that my daughter passed, and I just feel close to her whenever I see him as well,” she said.

Matt’s daughter, Siena Bott, was 21 when she died. She loved to sing Miller’s songs. A video showed her singing lyrics from “Once a Day” — “Once a day, I try, but I can’t find a single word.”
